What we do

Building the backbone of acute care

Leadership & Capacity

Building the capacity of emergency care professionals across Kenya, and guiding development of emergency care curricula, courses, and training programmes for all tiers of the emergency care system.

Advocacy & Policy

Advocating for emergency medicine to be prioritised by international and local stakeholders, and working with government to develop and strengthen emergency care policies and frameworks.

Collaboration & Research

Fostering global collaborations and partnerships for emergency care, and promoting research in emergency care in Kenya — affiliated with AFEM.

How the society is organised

Four standing committees

  1. In-Hospital

    Focused on emergency department practice, resuscitation standards, and in-hospital acute care.

  2. Out-of-Hospital

    Covers pre-hospital and EMS care, ambulance services, and first-response systems.

  3. Research

    Promotes and coordinates research in emergency care across Kenya.

  4. Training

    Guides curriculum, course, and training programme development for all tiers of emergency care.
